Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and a Fantastic New Year!
We've had a great 2013 and hope all of you have also!
We are SOOOO grateful for all the help, love and support from our friends and family this year!! You helped us through some "growing experiences" and we are forever thankful!!
Life is always full of learning experiences and the best kind are when OUR OWN KIDS are the ones teaching the lesson :) Hestar (almost 15) Up-Schooled me recently when talking about X-mas! I've always thought the abbreviation X-mas was an offensive way of X-ing out the word Christ...but I've been corrected :) Hestar "happened" to find a blog about this topic (http://blog.dictionary.com/ xmas-christogram/). It basically says that the letter X was originally a respectable abbreviation for the word Christ!!! Soooo once again, I've learned something new, from one of the very people I've spent all my mothering years trying to teach! I'm not complaining ...hopefully all my wonderful children can be smarter than ME:)
More great lessons I've learned from my children recently....Ephraim (11) has helped bring back the 'magic'...literally! He has heavily immersed himself in learning numerous magic tricks and being a great example of perseverance and showmanship! He's performed several excellent magic shows at our RV parks and even gotten tip$ from his audience! But the most important lesson he's helped me remember, is his self-less giving! He's used almost all that money to buy X-mas gifts for his sisters!!! Ephraim the Magnificent!
Lorna (5) has also been a shining star...she LOVES singing and is working on performing in front of a crowd! Ephraim graciously shares his spot light and allowed Lorna to be his Magician's Assistant PLUS she got to sing during intermission :) Adorable! One of her favorites is a song that says "I've got a pretty little face and a cute little figure! Stay away boys, until I get bigger!" She even does darling hand movements for emphasis :)
Of course, Cedar (2) is last but definitely not the least! She is a miniature mom...she thinks she's in charge of the family, especially her siblings! Often times, she'll be the first to sternly tell us the rules...like "Pick up your toys, guys!" Or another common statement is "Guys, it's my turn to talk, listen to ME!" She has quite an opinion and as soon as she gets to know you, she'll use her tiny, little voice to talk your ear off! She also is learning great manners and usually adds her please and thank you with out being reminded!
Nick and I are both so blessed to have such wonderful children...we especially miss the other kids that are home in Utah! Loads of love to Houston, Tristin, Telise, Dallas and Nicholas plus their significant others and the beautiful grand-kids!! Love and miss you all!!

ReplyDeleteBecky Koch said...Hi Dixie' ,I hope you received my email that I responded to yours last month. I was so happy to hear from y'all and that you guys were all doing good. Boy! Kids sure grow up quickly, and before you know it they are married and having their own kids. It takes a lot of love and patience and you have been blessed with both of them. I am so happy for you, that you and Nick could give up everything to enjoy life with no financial burdens. Not to many people could do what your doing. Ed and I are planning to go to Casper Wyoming this weekend to visit our children and grandchildren and then we are planning on visiting my two brothers one lives in Texas and the other ones in Colorado. Ed has a few weeks off and he's the one that suggested that we go on this little trip so I can see our kids/grand. I am so excited to be going and they can't wait for us to get there. , We don't see them very often. We still plan on traveling after Ed retires in fact he blew me away when he told me that he's retiring in November 2014 and that he's willing to move to Casper Wyoming and buy a home there so we can be with our children that was such a shock. You never know what the future holds, i think that he finally realized that life is to short and that we needto move before we both are to old to move. He also misses the kids and knows that we are missing out. Maybe on our little journey, we will meet again. Well, good luck on your journey that your already on, and God bless you all , Take care ,keep in touch. Please let me know if you have received this message. Please give the kids hugs and tell everyone that we said HELLOOOOO..Talk t you soon. Love Becky and Ed Koch
