Long Time, No Write....:)

Hello....How is everyone????
Whew! Long time, no write....We've been busy working & playing!
Let me give you a quick catch-up from our last posting:
~As part of our Thousand Trails membership, each year we get a rebate after staying a week in a cabin! We timed it for our wedding anniversary week and had a great time at Ponderosa!
~The older 2 kids Hestar & Ephraim went to Utah to visit their dad for 2 months! They had some great times with friends and family! We are always glad to have them back!!
~We made some great friends that took Nick on a 17 mile river raft trip down the American River!
~The Easter Bunny helped us make baskets & find eggs around the RV park!
~Watched the remote control boat races! Then few weeks later, the "Big Boat" races...both right in our "back-yard" at Lake Minden :)
~Found a creepy bug called an Earth Baby! Looks like a combination of a fat grass hopper with bumble bee stripes & huge ant head! Strange little creature!
~Celebrated Cedar's 3rd B-day at a bouncy house, live music, karaoke yummy food and wonderful friends! ...The hydroponic store across the street had their 1st summer event right in time for Cedar's b-day...so we called it her b-day party :)
~Of course, most important part is all the great friends we met and spent time with.... love you all!

Now we are finally in Cloverdale area right by the Russian River! B-E-A-U- TIFUL!
Next week we're going to use our FREE Six Flags Vallejo "Read to Succeed" tickets! Then headed to my brother's property couple hours north of here....super, duper excited to visit with him and his cute family!!!!!

2014!!!!

Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and a Fantastic New Year!
We've had a great 2013 and hope all of you have also!

We are SOOOO grateful for all the help, love and support from our friends and family this year!!  You helped us through some "growing experiences" and we are forever thankful!!

Life is always full of learning experiences and the best kind are when OUR OWN KIDS are the ones teaching the lesson :)  Hestar (almost 15) Up-Schooled me recently when talking about X-mas!  I've always thought the abbreviation X-mas was an offensive way of X-ing out the word Christ...but I've been corrected :)  Hestar "happened" to find a blog about this topic (http://blog.dictionary.com/xmas-christogram/). It basically says that the letter X was originally a respectable abbreviation for the word Christ!!!  Soooo once again, I've learned something new, from one of the very people I've spent all my mothering years trying to teach! I'm not complaining ...hopefully all my wonderful children can be smarter than ME:)

More great lessons I've learned from my children recently....Ephraim (11) has helped bring back the 'magic'...literally!  He has heavily immersed himself in learning numerous magic tricks and being a great example of perseverance and showmanship! He's performed several excellent magic shows at our RV parks and even gotten tip$ from his audience! But the most important lesson he's helped me remember, is his self-less giving!  He's used almost all that money to buy X-mas gifts for his sisters!!! Ephraim the Magnificent!

Lorna (5) has also been a shining star...she LOVES singing and is working on performing in front of a crowd! Ephraim graciously shares his spot light and allowed Lorna to be his Magician's Assistant PLUS she got to sing during intermission :) Adorable! One of her favorites is a song that says "I've got a pretty little face and a cute little figure! Stay away boys, until I get bigger!" She even does darling hand movements for emphasis :)

Of course, Cedar (2) is last but definitely not the least! She is a miniature mom...she thinks she's in charge of the family, especially her siblings! Often times, she'll be the first to sternly tell us the rules...like "Pick up your toys, guys!" Or another common statement is "Guys, it's my turn to talk, listen to ME!" She has quite an opinion and as soon as she gets to know you, she'll use her tiny, little voice to talk your ear off!  She also is learning great manners and usually adds her please and thank you with out being reminded!

Nick and I are both so blessed to have such wonderful children...we especially miss the other kids that are home in Utah! Loads of love to Houston, Tristin, Telise, Dallas and Nicholas plus their significant others and the beautiful grand-kids!! Love and miss you all!!

Soooo Thankful....

Hi everyone!
Happy Thanksgiving Week!  I have soooo much to be thankful for...of course my amazing husband and our incredible family and friends plus our great health! I'm also very grateful for our nomadic lifestyle and the awesome adventures we have as we travel! I'm thankful for the black & white of life but mostly I'm glad that my soul sees the silver linings!!!

Our previous RV park, Lake of the Springs was BEAUTIFUL! (but the limited internet & cell coverage made it hard to do school and work so now were trying another park.....) Here are some pictures of our "science" experiment for school. E-man loved fishing at Lake of the Springs and caught this cute, little sunfish. We dissected it and found some neat similarities and differences between people and fish!

We've moved again....we're in the valley now...little better reception, lots more people here (more chance to earn some income :-)) If you know someone in our area that might need/want our services or crafts, let us know or forward this email to them please! Thanks much!

Recap of 2012! Merry Christmas & Happy 2013

I know, I know! I haven't kept up with this blog very well...but it's my New Year Resolution to stay current!
Hope you've had an outstanding year!
For our family, 2012 has been full of learning, working, playing, laughing and TRAVELING! As most of you know, last year we sold pretty much everything we owned and hit the road in our RV. It's been amazing! We plan to stay on the road indefinitely and continue our incredible journey!
Here's a quick re-cap of this year....
San Diego beach, Legoland, helping at farms, orange orchards & avocado fields (yum), Chula Vista CA Olympic Training Center, horse ranch, Santa Barbara CA beach, "new to us" RV, year-round warm weather, lots of hiking, biking, swimming, "Road-Schooling", Kreative Kids (making & selling crafts), Mobile Massage Mom, RV Detailing Dad, and much more...but the best part of 2012 was all the new friends we've made and time spent with family!!!
Wishing you all a Happy Holiday Season & wonderful 2013!

3000 sq ft vs. 30 ft

Like I mentioned previously, we used to live in a beautiful 3000 sq ft home (picture to the left) with a gorgeous view of the lake and "purple mountains majesty"....but we had a beautiful, big house payment too!  We loved our home and our neighbors and our private access pool.  But we didn't love our big house payment :)  So... Nick and I mulled over other options.  We had often talked about wanting to purchase an RV and go on weekend camping adventures as a family.  Plus Hestar, our 12 year old daughter, had always said her "dream car" was a motor home.  Well, our mulling started to grow into full fledged dreaming.... What if we lived full-time in a motor home and traveled around the U.S.??  We began pricing used motor homes and realized that they were much more reasonable than we first imagined.  For the cost of a couple house payments, we could buy a home on wheels.   But then what...what about our house and all our 3000 sq feet of STUFF?  Once we decided to 'go for it', our excitement over-shadowed the chaos. Fortunately, we were able to get out of the house with out much loss... AND we sold most of our furniture and the rest went to goodwill.  Basically we only saved our best camping and outdoor gear, select tools of Nick's, rainy-day/ family games, a weeks worth of cloths for each of us, minimal kitchen supplies and some bedding.  We rented a small storage unit for our filing cabinets and "memory boxes", and we left a few winter clothes at my parents house.  Whew...I must say, getting rid of so much stuff was rather liberating!  Yes, many of our friends and family voiced their concern about this unusual lifestyle choice, but over all, they realized that our free spirit's were well suited for such a nomadic life.  Like modern day Gypsies, with most of our belongings in tow, we began our journey!  I have to admit, our first destination was merely a skip and a hop down the road.... some friends were kind enough to let us stay in their drive way while we ironed out the rest of the details.  For the next month and a half, we became accustom to living in our new motor home.  How to organize our stuff?  What curriculum to use for "road-school"?  What's the best way to get internet for our electronics?  How to find privacy for 6 people in our 280 sq feet?  And, as you can probably imagine, that's just the beginning of the adjustments we've embraced....but it's been a grand undertaking so far and we are enjoying it more each day!!
